November is National Native American Heritage Month. To mark the occasion, join us for a special edition of Meetup Live, where we’ll explore Indigenous perspectives and representations in the media. In this installment of the Dismantling Social Injustice series, learn how to honor and respect the people of the land we occupy.

Adrienne Keene, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and author of Notable Native People, will discuss the invisibility and silencing of Indigenous narratives in popular culture, and the importance of including Indigenous perspectives to challenge stereotypes and misrepresentations. Learn how to seek out Indigenous stories, and how to unlearn the harmful narratives perpetuated by mainstream media. Plus, stick around for Q&A.

Agenda:
Introductions (5 mins)
Fireside chat with Adrienne (40 mins)
Q&A session (15 mins)
