The West Linn Alliance, along with our partners West Linn Lutheran Church, Mary’s Woods Diversity Committee, and the Refugee Care Collective, want to thank the many local volunteers, merchants, and donors who helped with our campaign in February and March. If you missed the campaign and still wish to donate, please visit the Refugee Care Collective website.
The restart kits included new items for kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms and items needed for babies. Many people also included ”Welcome to Oregon” letters. The kits will be distributed to refugees arriving through the State Department pipeline. This winter and spring, Oregon is welcoming people from various countries, but mostly from Afghanistan. Soon Ukrainians will also be arriving.
There were other beneficiaries of your generosity. Items that could not be used by the Care Collective went to HOPE (Help Other People Eat) food pantry; Father’s Heart outreach to the Oregon City homeless population; a Woodburn church that works with farm laborers; and Rose Haven – a day shelter for women and children in NW Portland.
